We are a Vermont family seeking an exceptional BCBA/LBA, BCBA-D, or senior autism behavior specialist to help design and support a home- and community-based developmental program for our 11-year-old autistic son.
He is academically on pace and likely very bright, but he struggles with emotional regulation, social cognition, rigidity, frustration tolerance, and behavioral escalation. At school, recent physical behavior and peer-safety concerns have made clear that he needs a more sophisticated, function-based support system.
We are looking for someone who understands bright, complex autistic preteens and can help us build a calm, structured, skill-building home environment. This may include conducting or reviewing an FBA, designing a home behavior-support plan, training parents and caregivers, supervising a full-time development coach/RBT-type implementer, coordinating with school and outside providers, and helping our son generalize regulation, communication, and social-repair skills across real-life settings.
This is not a compliance-only role. We are seeking someone who is strengths-based, data-informed, neurodiversity-respectful, and highly skilled in supporting children who are both cognitively capable and behaviorally complex.
Ideal qualifications include:
BCBA, BCBA-D, LBA, or eligibility for Vermont licensure.
Significant experience with autistic children ages 9–14.
Experience with aggression, dysregulation, school refusal, social conflict, anxiety, executive-function challenges, and family coaching.
Strong FBA/BIP skills.
Ability to supervise an RBT, therapeutic mentor, or development coach.
Ability to collaborate with parents, school teams, psychologists, SLPs, OTs, and physicians.
Excellent judgment, calm presence, and commitment to preserving the child’s dignity while keeping everyone safe.

Requirements
Required qualifications
Meaningful experience working with autistic children, preferably preteens or adolescents.
Experience with emotional dysregulation, aggression, elopement, refusal, shutdowns, or other unsafe behaviors.
Ability to stay calm, regulated, and nonreactive during stressful moments.
Strong judgment about safety, boundaries, and when to seek help.
Willingness to collect simple behavior data and participate in team review.
Ability to collaborate respectfully with parents and other professionals.
Excellent communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.
Willingness to complete background checks.
Strong references from families, schools, clinics, or supervisors.
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
Preferred qualifications
BCBA/LBA credential or willingness/eligibility to become licensed in Vermont, if practicing ABA.
RBT certification or willingness to pursue RBT certification under appropriate supervision.
Experience with Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
Training in de-escalation, crisis prevention, trauma-informed care, Collaborative & Proactive Solutions, executive-function coaching, or social-pragmatic interventions.
Experience with twice-exceptional, gifted, or academically capable autistic students.
Familiarity with anxiety, ADHD, demand avoidance, shame sensitivity, sensory regulation, and school-based behavioral challenges.
Experience supporting generalization across home, school, and community settings.
