Consultant Psychiatrist
Monash Health seeks expressions of interest from excellent medical practitioners for its adult mental health services. Monash Health has a consultant led service delivery model, where the consultant is available upfront to lead patient care in every setting of care, supervise juniors and be available for timely escalation of care.
About the Mental Health Program (MHP) at Monash Health
Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.
Monash Health MHP is the largest in Victoria, serving nearly 25% of the Victorian population. The MHP runs the largest psychiatric training program in Victoria with nearly 100 trainee registrars and 20 prevocational trainees. Clinical diversity is a hall mark of the services provided by the MHP – with services such as neuropsychiatry, antenatal and perinatal, psycho-oncology, acute and community psychiatry to old age psychiatry – services across the life span.
About The Role
Consultant Psychiatrist – 2.0 EFT
o MMC Emergency Psychiatric Services
o MMC Consultation Liaison Services
o Clayton Community Mental Health Services (CCT/PARCS/CCU)
The roles are based within Adult Psychiatry unit at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, Monash Health, providing clinical and medical leadership to a multidisciplinary team of clinicians working with patients and the peer support workforce.
In these positions, the Consultant Psychiatrist will work closely with the patients and their families, managers/team leaders, clinicians, registrars/HMOs/Interns and the peer support workforce to ensure the provision of safe and effective care as well as assist with the efficient management of the relevant units. The Consultant Psychiatrist will also play an integral role in supporting medical, clinical and peer support staff and managing patient journeys in order to optimise timeliness of care and meeting organisational expectations of care (please refer to Monash Health’s iCARE values and Strategic Plan). All positions are supported by relevant junior medical staffing.

Requirements
You are a recent or an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist or a Senior Registrar awaiting Fellowship.
You Are Also

What You Need:
Relevant Qualification - Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent
Desirable for CL role – Advanced Training Certificate (Consultation Liaison Psychiatry)
Demonstrated experience
Current AHPRA registration
Participation in CPD
Valid WWC certificate
Valid Driving licence – senior medical staff are required to travel between Monash Health sites should the need arise
